Caldera ran for the Special Olympics in Strasbourg

The Caldera team ran for the 2019 edition of the Special Olympics in Strasbourg. Congratulations to our runners, Justine, Simon, Arnaud and Sebastien who ranked 10th out of 40 teams!
The Special Olympics movement
Special Olympics is the 1st non-profit organization dedicated to the fulfillment through sport of people living with a mental handicap. The Special Olympics movement was founded in the United States in 1968. Present in 172 countries, Special Olympics brings together over 5 million athletes and is recognized by the IOC (International Olympic Committee). In France, Special Olympics works with a network of partners to offer children, teenagers and adults the opportunity to experience the joy of sport.
Changing society’s view of mental disability
In France, 700,000 people live with an intellectual disability. Every year, between 6,000 and 8,500 children are born with an intellectual disability. Together with their families, this means that several million people are concerned and affected in their lives, yet remain invisible in the eyes of society. Special Olympics’ ambition is to enable as many children, young people and adults with intellectual disabilities as possible to experience the joy of sport. By multiplying sporting events, we also want to change the way society looks at disability.
